Watering Last Winters Turfed Areas

Last winters Turfed areas have not had enough time to lay down deep roots yet so are more susceptible to drought stress , we water these areas as required.

My son Angus is a grafter and loves links greenkeeping !! : )

Rabbit Control

There is a lot more to presenting a golf course than just cutting grass , one such thing is Rabbit control where if numbers are not kept under control they can make one hell of a mess scraping and digging in bunkers and fine turf areas making the course look scruffy /unkept.
If neglected the old saying rings true  "breeding like rabbits "

Fairway Overseeding April 2014

During April we were out overseeding all of our fairways with fescue , some like the picture below were still thin after last summers drought .
After using 5/8 solid tines we Overseeded with fescue then Topdressed with sand .
We got a very good strike with this method and the plan is to put some bent to the fairways with a sarrell roller at the end of May .

Overseeding Brown Top Bent May 2014

After set up today we calibrated our speed seeder for Bent and then Overseeded the 14th green ,we will be overseeding the rest of the greens tomorrow if the weather holds out.

Our speed seeder puts 1000 holes per m2
